Custom Pool Construction in Baytown, TX

Residential pool builders serving Baytown and East Houston. Design, permits, build, and start-up — in-house, with a 15+ year track record.

A Pool That's Yours — Not a Template

Building a pool is one of the larger home investments you'll ever make, and it shows in your backyard for decades. It deserves a builder who listens before drawing, plans the details up front, and doesn't cut corners on the parts you can't see later. At P-Jay's Pools we've been building custom residential pools across Baytown and East Houston for 15+ years, and our customers stay with us well after the build for ongoing maintenance and repair.

Every pool we build is designed around how you'll actually use it. Family swimming, entertaining, exercise laps, a resort-feel spa retreat — the design, depth, shape, and features should all serve that use. We'll ask questions most builders skip.

Our Construction Process

  1. Design consultation — site visit, conversation about your lifestyle, budget, and vision.
  2. Design & quote — dimensions, elevations, material selections, equipment spec, and line-item pricing.
  3. Permits & HOA coordination — we handle the submissions and track them through approval.
  4. Layout & excavation — chalk, dig, and set elevations.
  5. Steel & plumbing — rebar cage built to spec, all plumbing set and pressure-tested before shell pour.
  6. Shell (gunite/shotcrete) — pneumatically placed and cured with care. This is the bone structure.
  7. Tile, coping & decking — your aesthetic choices go in here.
  8. Interior finish — plaster, Pebble, or quartz finish applied and started up under controlled chemistry.
  9. Equipment set & electrical — pump, filter, heater, automation, lights, salt system if specified.
  10. Start-up & walkthrough — we bring the water balance in, brush daily for the cure window, and walk you through operation.

Materials & Options

Shell

Gunite/shotcrete. The right construction method for custom shapes and long-term durability in the Gulf Coast climate.

Interior Finishes

Standard plaster for budget builds, Pebble and quartz blends for higher-end finishes that last longer and look better over time. We'll walk through color and texture samples during design.

Tile & Coping

Glass tile, ceramic, porcelain, natural stone coping, cast concrete, travertine, brick. Material choice affects both budget and maintenance — we'll explain which materials handle Baytown's water chemistry best.

Decking

Broom-finish concrete, cool-deck textures, stamped concrete, flagstone, travertine, and pavers. We select for heat tolerance, slip resistance, and long-term durability.

Features

Attached spa, tanning ledge / Baja shelf, beach entry, sheer-descent waterfall, rock waterfall, deck jets, bubblers, fire features, swim-up bench. Almost any of these can be integrated if we plan for them in design.

Equipment

Variable-speed pumps (almost always the right choice now for efficiency), high-performance filters, gas or heat-pump heaters, LED pool lighting, modern automation, and salt chlorination where preferred.

Timeline

A typical residential gunite build takes 8–14 weeks from permit approval to fill. Weather, material lead times, and design complexity can push either direction. We build a weekly schedule during planning so you know what to expect and when the loud days are.

Budget Considerations

Pool budgets vary widely. The biggest drivers are size/depth, shape complexity, interior finish, decking square footage, and features (spa, water features, automation, heating). During design, we'll price line items so you can see where each dollar goes and decide what's in the first phase versus a future upgrade. We don't pressure sell add-ons.

After the Build

New plaster requires 28–30 days of careful start-up chemistry to cure properly. Brush daily, avoid common chemicals during certain windows, and watch calcium carefully. We handle the start-up in every build, and most customers transition straight into our weekly maintenance plan.

Typically 8–14 weeks from permit approval to fill, weather and materials allowing.

What does a new pool cost?

It depends on size, materials, and features. We provide line-item quotes so you can see exactly where each dollar goes.

Do you handle permits?

Yes. We manage submissions and track approvals. HOA documentation we handle in parallel.

Can I add a spa or waterfall?

Yes — attached spas, waterfalls, sheer descents, and other features are common additions. We'll design them in from day one.
